Physical Education

Students analyze and apply strategies and tactics that support improved decision making in physical activities.

What Did Students Do?

This Wednesday, our Grade 5 class had our final field trip to WinSport, where students spent the day skiing and snowboarding on the hills. It was wonderful to see the excitement as they put on their gear and prepared themselves for a day of challenge, growth, and fun.

It was awesome to see students encouraging one another, celebrating successes, and supporting classmates who needed extra confidence. They demonstrated thoughtful decision making as they applied strategies to stay safe and improve, showing awareness of their surroundings and control of their movements. By the end of both days, students showed noticeable growth in both skills and confidence.

We were so proud of how students persevered and did their best on the hills. The confidence, resilience, and teamwork they showed made this a memorable and meaningful final field trip at WinSport.

This week, we delved into our anchor text for the year "I am We". We read the book and used it as a starting point for many learning activities and discussions. Students discussed the concept of community and we used this to begin talking about our classroom and lunchroom expectations and norms.  Students also shared about the various communities they are part of and discussed how they feel when in these groupings. This discussion also inspired the hand dot artwork that students have begun. Each row of d...
October 29-31 Learning Outcomes Literacy  Students examine how the form and structure of texts can support the communication of ideas and information. What Did  Students Do? This week, our class had a monstrously fun time exploring persuasive writing through a creative project called Be My Monster Friend! Each student designed their very own friendly monster and then wrote a persuasive paragraph inviting the reader to become that monster’s friend. Through this activity, students examined how the form and structure of a persuasive text help writers clearly communicate their ideas and influence their audience. They learned how to state an opinion, provide convincing reasons, and use descriptive details to support their message, all while organizing their writing in a logical and engaging way.
